If snipers started shooting everyone over six feet tall, the proportion of humans under six feet tall in that area would increase. It would not change the characteristics of human biology or, even if all the tall people were eradicated from the breeding pool, and their genes combed out through successive generations, that humans had changed species. People have managed to INTELLIGENTLY DESIGN varieties of dog from Chihuahua to Great Dane, but they are all canis lupus familiaris. Your evolved swallows are still swallows, and when removed from the environment that selects for short wings, their proportions will go right back to normal.

If YOU were familiar with Charles Darwin's work, you would note that this is essentially the exact same phenomenon he observed with the Galapagos finches.
