Nice survey. Legolas Send a noteboard - 16/11/2009 09:49:20 PM
What if your favorite type of food to eat? Not talking cuisine or specific dish here, but what general flavor/texture profile just makes you drool all over the table?

Er. Too many to answer that...
What is your favorite cheese? Anyone who says "American" will be put out of their misery.

Tricky. I really like camembert, brie, roquefort (though it depends on the brand, sometimes other blues are better), parmesan, provolone, emmental, gouda and a bunch of other Belgian/Dutch old cheeses, manchego and last but not least, cabrales. There's blue cheese, and then there's that. :P
Do you eat any foods that are highly atypical of your region/culture? If so, give some examples.

Eh, is there anything really atypical anymore nowadays?
Do you ever eat something just because you have no idea what it is but totally want to find out? I'm not referring to food on the floor.

I'll try stuff I've never had before, sure, though I'm not sure it's often happened that I tried something of which I had no idea what it was before putting it in my mouth...
What is your favorite cut/form/type of meat? Vegetarians, you can put your favorite protein source :D

Hm. I like lamb, good steak (in not too big quantities), but mostly just pork in many varieties.
What is your favorite vegetable? Fruit?

Eggplants, rucola (just how do you get something that looks like ordinary lettuce to taste so good?), raw carrots; kiwis, bananas, passion fruit, nectarines.
Are you a chocolate person?

Definitely. I'll eat and enjoy all kinds, but bitter is the best - some of those 70% cacao and more things are divine.
Beer, wine, or the hard stuff?

Certain kinds of all three. Heavy Belgian and some foreign beers, British ales, Belgian white beers, chardonnay is usually okay, some kinds of red wine as well, no champagne. For hard stuff, vodka and tequila are alright, whisky is revolting (it has to be said :P ), aniseed-flavoured liquors like pastis are generally not really my thing either.
Favorite international cuisine?

That's hard. Love South-East-Asian, Mexican and Italian, so I guess one of those three depending on the mood.
Are there any foods you're a total picky elitist about?

Cheeses, beers, chocolate (hey, I'm Belgian :P ). With chocolate, most anything sold in Belgium, Switzerland, France and the like will do, even random supermarket brands, but in the UK or US one has to watch out. :P
What is your guilty "omigod this is so bad for me" pleasure?

Hm. Not really anything in particular, though of course there's lots of unhealthy food that I like.
Do you, in fact, truly love food?

Certainly. :D
