You site a case where all I read was "might be" or "could be". In cases where the mother's life is obviously in danger, then its no question that the child needs to be sacrified. Because as you mentioned, both would be lost.
In Tim's case, there was no for sure danger to the mother. Instead, they recomended it to her. To personalize it a bit, my aunt was pregnant when she was in a horrible car accident which broke her back (but not her spinal cord). Her doctors wanted wanted to abort my cousin, because her pregnancy "may complicate" matters in regards to her back operation/healing.
Her life wasn't in jeopardy, her comfort was. She chose to put her own comfort and her own circumstances aside for the LIFE of another person. Instances where the life of the mother is actually in jeopardy is extremely rare and are not the excuses used for having an abortion. Look it up.
