I find it to be an annoying "tax".
Workers should get paid and not tipped. If the restaurant can't handle it it should just increase meal cost. Whatever.
Anyway, I always tip, even though I don't like it. 12.5% of the check is the go rate.
Another annoyance is a 2 sheckel "security" cost for having a minimum wage security guard check people's bags before going in.
Why should a pub ful of hundreds of people add 2 sheckels for every person when the minimum wage is 20 sheckel ? Now, this part is by law voluntary. But this means you have to actively tell the waiter to deduce the security cost. Forcing you to be a cheap bastard after footing a 120 sheckel bill because of 2 sheckels, but I always do it.
