Yes, your soup is a lie Isaac Send a noteboard - 09/03/2010 05:59:52 PM
Okay, so I have some stock in my freezer from going all Betty Crocker and making it from scratch a few weeks back. I've been crazy busy at work this week and I stop on the way home and buy some pre-chopped onions, carrots and celery (and the ingredients list only the veggies). Is my soup more or less homemade than Avendesora's? :D Is there a meaningful difference in the quality and taste between buying the veggies and chopping them myself and buying them pre-chopped? ;)

Honestly, I don't think I've ever in my life seen a bag of pre-chopped onions. Yeah, sure, it's legit, you made the stock, there's nothing sacred about chopping vegetables yourself, I do use pre-chopped brocolli when I make cream of brocolli, which is like my only other regular soup besides chiken. I do dump last bits of bags of mixed veggies for stir-fry in soup, but that qualifies as leftovers, and soups about leftovers, IMHO.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
