Most of what the Muslims "invented" were just simple rediscoveries they made from the Library in Alexandria, rediscoveries that were initially made by the Greeks and Romans. Without the Islamic invasions into Europe, the burning of Churches and Monasteries, that stuff would never have been lost in the first place.


The Western Roman empire managed to fall into quite a decline without any aid from the Muslim hordes. And the tolerant attitude to Christian and Jewish scholars provided quite a flowering in itself.
