However, I can see some circumstances in which we would intervene, mostly involving increased involvement by China in Venezuela. Having said that, I also don't see that happening because China also understands that you don't throw good money after bad.

I don't see China getting itself caught up too badly in that mess, either, and I can't think of any circumstances in which the US would get militarily involved in Venezuela. Unless, and even that seems far-fetched but who knows how badly things will still deteriorate there, as part of some multinational peacekeeping force. And in such a case I'm sure they would ensure sufficient Latin-American representation in those forces, for the propaganda reasons you mentioned.
