There is certainly merit to your argument. Nixon has been somewhat rehabilitated by history even if at the time, he was a nightmare.

My assessment of Kennedy was "might have been." Maryland basketball coach Lefty Dreisel once said that potential is a foreign word that means ain't done a damned thing yet. JFK had potential.

LBJ actually accomplished a lot, for good or ill, but Vietnam ruined him.
