familiarity breeds contempt, people know things about the politicians. Michelle is a blank canvas one can paint one’s hopes, dreams, and aspirations on.

And while familiarity breeds contempt, Michelle is already included as part of the tribe as something these hopers can say she is vetted, she is trustworthy, the other guy who we trusted literally married her, etc, etc. (the promise aspect of a com-promise candidate meant to unite many factions.)

if it is not obvious I think this stuff is nonsense, but we must understand why people believe it. Think of a wedding where “Harmonia” reigns and the future is full of promise. Sure Maleficent or Eris may throw a poison apple at the wedding, for the fairest … but the concept of marriages well it excites the imagination, it gives one HOPE
