Re: I trust him because of the way he's been acting.
Isaac Send a noteboard - 17/11/2010 07:09:14 PM
You may not believe it, but I rarely check the hypocop table during the Day. It's all confusing misleading trails, so why bother? I had not noticed the significance or implications of him hypocopping you until you posted about it just now. Seriously.
Lord, then why? Was I right about us being almost all masoned after all? IF so then why this surety my team must be infected? Why do you apparently trust him? I cna't help but feel it might be a bit relevant to my case, you basically just said "I think I trust him, but it makes me uncomfortable for him to have my role information. He knows I'm not scum, but I have no such assurances that he is not." What do you mean by this? Why do you trust him?
In particular, the single-minded ferocity with which he's decided to bring you down. That says "town" to me. Scum don't make those kind of gambles, and bear in mind that I am speaking of my mindset before he revealed himself to be the Cop, not afterward. Though if anything, that revelation has assured my initial feelings on the matter. You are a formidable opponent, Isaac, but not such much that the scum would be willing to sacrifice F-T (also a very valuable asset) to get you lynched. Because that's pretty much exactly what's going to happen if you turn up innocent Tonight - F-T's going to get it. I don't think that's a gamble worth taking on Day 2 for the scum - the costs outweigh the benefits. There are easier far, far easier targets that can be brought down in a way that spreads the guilt for the Lynch around. Hell, that's exactly what we do every other game, and that's basically what we did Yesterday to WF.
That's a sound enough analysis, IMHO, the problem is while I don't think FT would gamble off the SPLOG claim or sacrifice himself, it is clear he thinks its him or me, personally I tihnk we'll end up going for one of the other five voters if we don't hit me. The problem is, while the FT-as-scummer option seems ludicrous for a sacrifice, the idea that my scummer allies would serve me up on a platter pre-cop admission is, well, highly unrealistic.
The SPLOG thing only cements it further. There's no way F-T is scum, unless there are two fractions. That's a ridiculous, ridiculous claim to make just to get you lynched. Totally not worth it, I am forced to assume he is telling the truth. Perhaps he is limited in some way, or insane. But he's not scum.
I don't think he's scum either, not much anyway, though I'll be happier once people confirm they don't have the SPLOG, since he seems to think he's dead if I'm not, and has ample prior evidence to believe as much, and that can apply as much to scum as town. I've been pondering my scribble note from game start, let me try for an optimal paraphrase:
"You need an access code for the SPLOG"
That's obviously not the real wording. Anyway, my intial take on that was that Hobo or Fox had the codes to open the case, which is listed as intact in the Intro, its our building so to speak. Simple easy, which is why my first NB to Hobo and Fox stressed not admitting to having the device if they did, one scummer, one cop, one hardened brute with clue made a lot of sense. However the wording could just as easily have meant that you need the right code to use the thing, its never explicitly stated the device was locked up, so maybe he didn't have to thief his way into it and just picked it up not knowing he had the right access key. Previously I'd just assumed post-WF that if it had a flaw it probably was iffy about mutant or non-human DNA, superheroes being so full of such things, and a damaged cop fits with a secondary investigator decently well. Its not surprising of course, two investigators (and we might have more, semi or full) pretty much mandated the scummers have some edge in that respect, undetectable, frame-ability, etc. I'd hardly be a surprising target for a frame-role but I'd assume the more logical explanation is that the SPLOG just doesn't work because you need a key to use it, as opposed to my original interpretation of being in a locked box, I'm picturing the thing as a gun like device, one locks such things up as opposed to sticking a keypad on it or something.
Probably the core thing to keep in mind is the numbers aspect, the lynch record just doesn't jibe with available estimates and the bulletproof watcher tossed in pretty much requires some sort of investigatory shenanigans, our cops have been damaged goods about half the time of late, pretty much since the whitecloak investigator first appeared in game 5, if FT has a fully functional device then its a safe bet the scummers have bigger numbers - screwing up the lynch numbers even worse - or they have protection or misdirection. I can produce a lot of theories, like fist used his mega-hex and they had a roled framer, target whoever you feel like and conjunction, etc, he just absorbs everything. But I think the most probable is that the thing just doesn't work properly without a code. I'd considered the probability it might have been removed from a locked case by everything from super-thief to teleportation but She-Hulk wouldn't fit that, and the case is verifiably intact, so I assume I just took the incorrect route on ambiguous wording.
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
