But from the point of view of the natives, the creatures are indomitable Despite whatever talents they have, they are used to thinking of the creature as something to be feared. It'd be like a rabbit thinking "maybe I should just bite this puma's nutsack". Basically, conquering one of the big dragons is not simply an act of skill or courage...it's an act of overcoming preconceived notion of fear. Is that not a trait desirable in a leader?


They're already trained to conquer one flying beast, and there are examples of other people Na'vi capturing/bonding the dragons. Some hothead warrior who thinks he's all that is going to try it.

The fact that everyone is trained to fear them is even more of a reason more people would try it, IMO.
