Sephiroth.
What does Mama's Boy have to do with this?

With the defanging of the Forsaken, Rand isn't left with any "dread" worthy opponents. Moridin's almost an anti-villian at this point. The DO is a faceless evil. The Seancean are a distraction- one that can do damage, but not horror-inducing. The various minions and monsters are bad, but not antagonist-worthy.
There's pretty much just Fain, who hasn't been doing much scheming lately, and the 'Finns, who are more of a Mat-centric antagonist.
So, yeah, the series... I don't know if "demeaned" is the word, but it was definitely lessened by the Semirhage sequence.

I'm actually surprised you thought Semirhage was a worthy villain before the spanking scene. I know I considered her a complete joke after Knife of Dreams, having gone through with what is presumably the absolute dumbest Forsaken plot to date. Her plan was so ridiculous that people were trying to preserve her image as a competent Forsaken by suggesting she meant to get captured.
Her humiliation in The Gathering Storm is completely appropriate. In the end, the heroes triumph over the villains, and how do you defeat a villain who is nothing more than an image? I mean, Semirhage had demonstrated her utter incompetence already, as I mentioned, all she had left was this delusion of adequacy. What was needed to complete the heroes' victory over her was to shatter that delusion and reveal the pathetic creature hiding behind the mask.
This doesn't reduce the value of Semirhage, such as it was, but only shows how awesome the protagonists were, that they could take on whatever obstacle Semirhage offered.
and how utterly useless the forces of good were in their fight against shadow, the forsaken were the elite the DO had, look at the state of them, apart from 1 really the rest are like a bunch of those apprentices on that reality show, with magic.
What happened to all the brainy people who invented all those great gadgets, it sure as hell wasn't the forsaken, the greatest psychologist of the AOL with years of close observance doesn't notice Semi's flaw, but picked up pretty quickly by cads.
There isn't a lot of "smart" characters in the WOT world, unlike say the "Storm King" in memory sorrow and thorn or a kelhus in Prince of nothing.
Defanging the Forsaken should logically go back to the AOL's and then i can't see how this bunch of neurotic bunglers could have ever gave anyone a challenge.
Semirhage vs Cadsuane - in Sanderson's words...
