Apparently, you can enter the World of Dreams in the flesh, and the only thing we know preventing this is some vague warning about losing your humanity (whatever that is - philosophers and politicians have been discussing what "humanity" or a "soul" can be forever).
I think you could enter the World of Dreams by going to sleep, open a gateway to where you are sleeping, but then you would run into the problem of being a spirit entity unable to untie or interact with the physical rope or your body itself.
RJ said that you could make Gateways in different forms and directions, and if possible, I think this would be the most important factor to easily escape this situation. If you opened a gateway, manipulated it beneath the ground your pole was tied to, and fell through, you could escape without going to sleep. Or better yet, you could make a micro gateway with a minimal amount of Power, touch your rope to an edge and free yourself that way, and then leave.
