Semirhage is named as "The Lady of Pain" in KoD, by Rand... Shannow Send a noteboard - 17/06/2010 11:14:56 AM
Semirhage means Lady of Pain.

But translations may prove difficult. RJ says he has the meanings of all the Forsaken names, it it will no doubt appear in the encyclopedia.

But he also said that he didn't develop a complete Old Tongue language, and that he pretty much used words as and when necessary.

So we might well see a situation where the actual syllables and meaning of a Forsaken name don't match up as far as the Old Tongue is concerned, or contradicts other uses of the same phrase.

Demandred might be "Lord of Hate" but something like Lord may already have been given as the "Gai" in Gai' shain, which means Battle Lord or something.

This is a stupid example, and may be totally incorrect, as I can't actually remember exactly what Gai Shain means, but I think you see the point I'm trying to make.
