In RJ world souls are reborn and all, wouldn't it be VERY sinister and remarkable if the MDs walked along with dead souls in their swords.? Or whatever you may mean with binding a soul.

Wouldn't Ishamael have offered himself for the noble position of MD fodder if this were the case? Lose his soul that way.


Actually if I had to guess why the humans need to die to make the swords, I'd say it has something to do with human blood. Swords drink blood, after all. It's the first taste they're given.
