This also makes sense in the context of my theory, with minor change. The sword feels right not because of any future need, but because Rand earned that sword by beating Turak. The first heronmarked blade was given to him, and it was a long and important internal struggle Rand had of earning the right to wear the blade, which I dont believe he ever felt he had. He did however earn Turak's, that's an important thing to Rand, and one he would not trumpet nor discuss.
I would slave, to pave the way, to sink your ship of fools.
Plot relevance of the sword
