Re: It's an interesting theory in either direction

IMO it's obvious that the DO could have prevented Rand from using the TP to escape Semirhage by the simple expedient of cutting Moridin off. Nothing to say he wouldn't later restore Moridin's access. That's why I tend to think the DO wanted Rand to use the TP and become addicted.
Yes, but that depends on the level of knowledge the DO has about the TP. I mean it IS possible that all the DO felt was a request for TP from Moridin, and since Moridin is a TP addict the DO would certainly not have seen anything strange in that and would have granted it. Since we don't know how the Rand/Moridin link works, it is possible that the DO was completely ignorant of the fact that his TP was actually flowing from Moridin to Rand.
If this is the case, then while it is true that the DO could have cut Rand off by cutting Moridin off, he might not have realised the need. Also remember that the whole Semirhage thing happened very quickly. From taking hold of TP to breaking the collar was maybe a second. So even IF the DO was aware, he might not have reacted quickly enough even if he realised that things were not right. Heck, in theory the DO might not even KNOW yet that Rand channeled his power. He might still think that Rand escaped through some other mean. Though personally I think thats unlikely.
Basically there are many potential explanations for Rand taking the TP against the DO's wishes that are perfectly reasonable if BS/RJ wants/wanted it like that.
I certainly hope we hear more about it later!
Agreed! Rand channeling TP was a major thing regardless of whether he had permission or not. And though I feel too tired right now to look for a quote, I recall BS mentioned that there WOULD be consequences for the TP, even now that Rand is sane. I wonder what.

I don't know if Semirhage was sacrificed or not. Either way the Semirhage quote set up tGS 6 books
