Graendal is worried Moridin would be angered if this messenger's mind were damaged. Why, if he is a mere messenger?
And then there is the logistics of the thing? Are you suggesting that Moridin wove the Gateway, allowed the messenger through, and then ran out of the room so it would be empty when Graendal came in? And how did he close the Gateway then? It sure as hell wasn't there when Demandred and Mesaana came in. And culdn't have been lurking outside the room since they would have noticed him.
Also, he uses the True Power exclusively. I think Graendal would have commented on it, if so.
Which is why it seemed obvious to me that the messenger was an Asha'man.

I can't really decide. I know logistically it sounds stupid, but there are several problems with him being a darkfriend Ash'aman.
The Compulsion thing doesn't worry me - she's not prepared to harm Moridin's servants, whether they are channelers or not. Graendal basically makes you into a permanent vegetable when she gets her hands on you.
The messenger calls her 'My Lady' and not 'Great Mistress', so I think he was compelled by Moridin and saw the Lady Basene. Or something to that effect.
Graendal also looks out the window and sees soldiers in black patrolling the grounds. This man could be one of them. He's just in black but he doesn't have an Ash'aman's cloak or pins, and Graendal always comments on channelers, even if they're Aes Sedai. It could be Brandon ignoring some details though. RJ used to write when channelers held saidar and BS never wrote it once about any of the Forsaken, with Graendal suddenly weaving Air and Water.
A man in red serves her wine, and he's a normal looking kind of guy. Maybe Moridin is doing a 'Basene' of his own and his servants are just normal servants?
