But that has always been the case. I am astounded that it isn't recognized more often... Shannow Send a noteboard - 08/02/2011 03:58:24 PM
I think it would undermine what I see as a major theme in the series; namely, that everyone is important and seemingly minor choices have a large-scale effect because they effect everyone else. If Rand was the Serpent, ultimately it would be his approach and decisions that have the most importance far beyond anyone else.

If Rand chose to kill himself, the world dies.

If Rand chose to return to the Two Rivers and refuse his destiny, the world dies.

Rand is the be all and end all of this series. That's why I said all along that everyone who goes on about him getting a big head, or becoming authoritarian or wanting people to understand the gravity of his mission are missing the boat.

Rand is what matters. He is all that matters.

If Egwene never arrived, and the White Tower vanished in a puff of smoke, it wouldn't matter. RAND matters. The land is one with the Dragon. Not with the Amyrlin, or the Wolf King, or the Prince of Foxes or anyone else.

It is all about Rand. It always has been.

This. There's a reason one of his archetypes is the Fisher King. *NM* - 08/02/2011 07:00:05 PM 626 Views
The issue is that the Fisher King story is about the Land, not the People - 08/02/2011 08:02:24 PM 1126 Views
