The disciples, not Jesus, were the "fishers of men." EDITED. Ghavrel Send a noteboard - 09/02/2011 10:08:24 PM
(New Testament, Book 1:17)

That... that is not how one references the Bible. :P

I assume you are referring to Mark 1:17, where Jesus says to Simon and Andrew "Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men." (NASB). That's a very tenuous link.

This link has a lot of information as to biblical references to Jesus' identification with fish: http://www.mazzaroth.com/ChapterSix/FishersOfMen.htm. Further, in the book, "High History of the Holy Grail", the Fisher King is actually called 'Messios'.

That link is horrific. The zodiac has nothing to do with Christianity, and didn't even exist in its current form until Ptolemy reformed it two centuries after Christ died.

The connection between the Fisher King and Jesus/the Messiah inspired a large part of the Grail legends, and those legends are connected to the Arthurian mythos.

There are a lot of reasons Jesus used fish, and there are a lot of connections between ??????? and ?????. But they aren't the ones you listed. Many of them are societal, and many are linguistic. If you want a decent site, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icthys has actual scholarship supporting its claims.

The reason the Fisher King is called the Fisher King is because, being crippled, all he could do is fish. If you want to show a connection to me, you're going to need to show much more proof than that. :P
