I could be wrong but I believe they are gaurding him until the Last Battle so that he can defeat Sight Blinder.

This is Rand's fight and they know it. There is no way an Aiel would stand between someone and a fight they must face. Heck, for all we know the girls in the background are giggling about the bootprint left by a mainden as she said "get in there and show that sumbeatch what a SonOfaMaiden can do"
