I don't think anyone would be surprised if Demandred used the ways - he's as evil as Machin Shin.

Maybe Rand is suggesting using it?


He'd be just at risk as anyone else ... Machin Shin's only "survivor" was Fain/Mordeth and only because of the "sameness" between them.

I imagine this to be a conversation where Rand is telling Ituralde that the Trollocs have been invading the South using the Ways (i.e. Demandred as the commander) and Ituralde exclaiming "No one uses the Ways".

Rand and the Light have no need to risk the Ways since they have Traveling that won't kill their armies of Shadowspawn.


The Forsaken have a crappy deal in that they can't move Shadowspawn around easily. Demandred may be forced to use them.

I doubt anyone would be surprised that the Shadow is using the ways but someone might be shocked if the Light is using it.


Ituralde has been out of the loop so he'd be shocked at what will in all likelihood be the first time he's heard of ANYONE using the Ways. I just suspect this will be part of the unveiling of Demandred's alter ego.


Rand or one of his friends might need to use them to stop the Shadow. Maybe to destroy the armies moving around in there, or maybe Machin Shin still has a role to play. Its probably unlikely but we just don't know how its all going to pan out.
