Don't forget that male - female levels don't align, though, and Elayne-Egwene were not trained much if at all at fending off shields back then.

"There are several levels of men strengths above the female ones" and the fact Rand might well have been close to his full strength, and Egwene. Elayne was much lower.


RJ did say women's dexterity advantage makes up for that, but its entirely possible Elayne and Egwene had no such advantage at this stage of their training. Plus, they weren't even holding the source when he shielded them.
