You assume correctly. I must not have been clear.
I was asking about WoT as a series. I understand your arguments against Egwene and while I don't agree on many points I still understand and respect your position. I don't honestly know why I wonder because it really only affects you, but it sounds like you continue to read a series you have a strong dislike for. I can't imagine that is the case as it would be a colossal waste of your time, so my curiosity has been piqued.
I like everything including Egwene's parts. If you really were familiar with my posts, you would know that I often defend it, to the extent that, on wotmania, Sidious often accused me of being a knee-jerk RJ apologist. I am still bemused here, because it SEEMS like you're saying that disliking a character = disliking the series, which makes no sense. Egwene is not even the protagonist, but I have still read and enjoyed books where I disliked the protagonist(s) and everything they stood for. I have read most of Harry Turtledove's novels, for example, which typically have a cast of dozens of PoV characters, of whom I like maybe one or two per series, while strongly disagreeing with his historical conclusions as well. And in spite of this, I have written favorable reviews of his books for the OFMB on wotmania. It is hard to express this without coming across as condescending or belittling, but I mean no offense or personal judgment of you when I say I find the notion that one must like the character or agree with the theme or concept in order to enjoy a book to be extremely immature.
