With Rand killing all the "servants" they were considered a consequence of the fight against the shadow. Plus it was a a time saving measure. Since he knew that their minds were pudding it wasn't worth going to the effort of trying to save them.

With egwene, she killed the AS to save the knowledge of traveling. It is an advantage over the Seanchan. An advantage that Seanchan would use to extreme effectiveness to take over the rest of the world. bring more troops from Seanchan to cover all of Randland. It was a preventative measure to save what could be saved.

Both actions look horrible, but were a necessity of the job.
