Ordinarily, I would disagree. Egwene is executing people not for a crime, but for being part of an organization. In ordinary circumstances a BA who has done nothing evil should not be executed.
Wrong. Your statement MIGHT have truth, but it describes an impossible scenario. Joining the Black Ajah IS an inherently, automatically evil. It is an act of treason to the Light and humanity, and treason has always been a capital crime. There are no circumstances in which a BA can NOT have done anything evil. But in a time of war, where the enemy has the power to use and manipulate people the way he does and with the power that these women have Egwene's decision was reasonable. I don't necessarily think that it is the best solution, but it is a reasonable one. I wouldn't second guess Egwene's decision here. The alternatives were not that better.
In a time of peace, I can see some argument for trials and a standard of proof for establishing the guilt of a Black Sister. In time of war, or a for a non-channeler, discovery of a Black Sister should necessitate killing on sight. I find no fault in Egwene's conduct regarding the Black Ajah in tGS. She did the best she could be expected to, she cannot be held to blame for those who fled, and her sentences were completely justified and necessary. Verin's dossier rendered even the potential intelligence assets represented by captive sisters meaningless, so there was no excuse or reason NOT to sentence them to death. Even her rather unwarranted (strictly speaking) praise of Verin as the latter died was not uncalled for in the circumstances. Verin did what she could, and there was no point in useless recriminations.
