The revelation would have been a bombshell and the black ajah would have had the upper hand as the rest of the Aes Sedai were stunned. Worse since it could have been seen as a political move by a newly raised Amrylin against potential enemies.

There would have been a lot of blood spilled, and I think the light would have suffered worse than the dark.

They lost some of the sisters, but they have been in no uncertain terms outed for what they are by running, and they will have to face those Black Aes Sedai during the final battle. Now the tower is fully aware of them and can be brought together instead of being taken piecemeal as you have suggested.

70ish escaped. The tower has/had around 1000 full sisters. The remaining black Ajah is vastly outnumbered.
