Demandred's comment in TGS and his previous thoughts clearly show that he wants to kill Rand personally.

As said, I believe Aran'gar sent the DF Asha'man, but that Osan'gar was Slayer's patron in WH (we see how scared he is in WH to fight Rand yet again), while Graendal was the one who posed as Sammael to order the Shadowspawn army.

IMO, Taim becameIshy's disciple in the past, when he searched for the DR (this explains Taim's knowledge). After Ishy's death SH directly ordered him to join Rand in LoC, even giving him a Seal. Finally Moridin became Taim's master again, after his return. Taim seems to powerful to be controlled by Demandred. I think only the absolute top dogs of the Shadow can control him. In my view, Demandred messed with the Dragonsworn at this time.
