I think you are reading more into my words than is there, but I do agree that the title of the thread is misleading... it should have been Cadsuane's poor use of sarcasm.
My position is as follows:
Firstly the Oath is not against lying, it prohibits speaking untrue words. I see a clear difference there, especially when related to sarcasm. Lying implies intent to deceive and is clearly 100% of the time covered by the Oath. Speaking untrue words can have more than one interpretation.
1. Passing false information, unknowingly, such as Meidani being able to pass the rumors of Elaida and Reds setting up false Dragons. In her mind she has no belief that the words she spoke were not true, thereby making her words true (to her).
2. Sarcasm, speaking words that are in fact true (See Seonid's quote above) but putting a different intent on them is clearly allowed. The words spoken are TRUE and therefore the Oath does not prohibit them from being spoken.
Then there is what happened with Cadsuane. She did a combination of the above. She spoke untrue words with a different meaning behind them. IMO this should be prohibited as both her intent and her words conflicted with the Oath itself.
If all it takes is a sister to convince herself that she means for her audience to understand the meaning behind her words, than sisters could speak untrue words all the time... yet they don't. And they all seem to understand this when Sheriam answers the wrong question with untrue words. Her excuses would have carried a lot more weight if the AS around her thought for a second that she just misspoke.
We can agree to disagree, I didn't really think this thread would get so much attention to be honest I threw it up mostly for a laugh

The sarcasm was for him repeating himself to her. The "remember" is the part she's refering to.
