like Asmo was one
Yet the Dark One indicated that it would have rather captured his soul for punishment and possible transmigration, which argues against his capability to defeat any channeler.
I think Slayer hunts weaker traitors and non-channelers.
Even after Slayer fails to kill Rand in Far Madding, because Rand already left his rooms, Slayer doesn't hesitate to offer his patron to try it again, not knowing if Rand is even still in Far Madding. Besides that, Slayer also tries to kill another channeler, namely Nynaeve, with his bow in TSR. This shows that Slayer doesn't hesitate at all to attack channelers.
And since even Min - who isn't a Top Assassin of the Shadow - manages to wound Semirhage twice with her knife, nothing suggests that Slayer wouldn't be able to kill Asmo, if he surprised him and maybe used a quick & deadly weapon like a crossbow with a poisoned bolt (RJ also said that Fain would have been able to kill Asmo, if he had been there). Finally, BS said that there was more about Slayer's powers in a deleted scene in TSR. This powers might have helped him to kill Asmo.
