I think only three of the main theories often suggested could still be right, namely:
Cyndane's Power drop is related in some way to being Healed from stilling/burning out;
that Cyndane's weaker body is responsible for preventing Lanfear to unfold her whole potential;
or that there was a weird effect, when the door ter'angreal melted, which caused Lanfear to lose a part of her OP strength (and maybe Moiraine got it).
All of these theories seem to have their problems, though.
