Lanfear would have been toast if Moiraine had the angreal, plus foreknowledge of the confrontation.. Shannow Send a noteboard - 21/01/2010 02:38:57 PM
That Moiraine knew that the angreal, ter'angreal, two channelers-interaction would destroy the doorway and maybe burn Lanfear out or at least stun her long enough to be captured as well, so that Lanfear wouldn't be able to immediately return to Rand.

Remember Be'lal?

Lanfear would have been in for the same treatment, considering that Moiraine knew exactly how the scene would play out. Especially if Moiraine had an angreal as well, and Lanfear was distracted by battling Rand and the two girls at the same time.

In fact, if Lanfear hadn't had the angreal, Rand would probably have overwhelmed her with his own angreal. So giving Lanfear the angreal really didn't make sense from the point of view of winning the battle. There had to be an ulterior motive to it.

Having Lanfear blow up in the doorway is much more convoluted than simply balefiring her in one go, or letting Rand deal with her with his angreal. Why give her the extra power of her own angreal?
