Did I miss it, or was the young Tom Riddle's body ever explained? Because that, as I understand, was Voldemort... but it was lying there with his parents? I am confused.

Voldemort's father and his grandparents. Why exactly Voldemort's father stayed with his parents all that time isn't entirely clear... perhaps the whole thing with Merope left him traumatized, or something?
