AFFC and the wait have both made me lost interest in the series. I may not even read it until the last book comes out. And that's if people are saying it's good.
However, I try not to have too many expectations of authors. You write at your own risk. It's damn hard to do it, too. Sometimes you can't get anything to come out at all, sometimes nothing but crap. I'm sure Martin is aware that some people have lost interest, but I don't think mentioning it to him is going to help him get over whatever bump in the road he's hitting any faster.
