And would love to have a real conversation about it, but you're right. It's very, very unlikely that everyone (or even most) would stay civil.
You can have those, but by and large someone will troll their way in, ruffle feathers, and even the most reasonable of us has a button or two, sheer chance gives the troll a good chance of finding somebodies, then like a big nuclear reactor the offended rational person will spew out out some radiaiton that will get absorbed by another rationale person because it hit their button, then it's "Out Swords!!!" and King Arthur gets stabbed at Camlann. You wouldn't want regicide on your conscious, would you?
