And that's the problem right there. Debate on this topic is, in the end, impossible when one side can take refuge in "that's just the way it is" as a final stance.

Me, I like pointing out the inconsistencies that inevitably crop up in such "debates" - but I don't really expect to change anyone's mind, and I try not to be an ass about it. Until the other person is, of course, then I usually cut loose a little. ;)
