One should say "sexual identity" rather than "gender identity". If, psychologically speaking, a person identifies as a woman while in a male body, then that person is biologically a man with a female sexual identity.

The use of the term "gender" is still unnecessary and incorrect.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
