It typically makes it a first degree felony if you break into someone's house and you are armed. Most burglars have no zero interest in meeting the people they are robbing and will run if they think they are going to do so. The last thing your average home robber wants is to shot someone and end behind bars for the rest of their life or worse get the needle.


Sorry but I don’t buy the argument that burglars carry guns to protect themselves from home owners. Either way they come in my house and threaten my family the only way they don’t leave feet first is if I don’t think they are armed and think I can get away with not shooting them. I wouldn't want to kill the neighbor’s kid because he thought he could steal my TV but I would error on the side of shooting him first.
