The point of "what-if" historical speculation is that we don't know at all how things might have been different. At least Cannoli provided valid historical reasons for why he believed the premise of the article was flawed. Your reply, on the other hand, is the equivalent of saying, "well Germans are warmongers so nothing would have changed."
Although Cannolis observation that in WW I Germany "'Germany' has little to do with the decisions being made" applies equally well to Russia. The main difference is that the Allies pursued a thorough and lengthy re-education campaign in both Germany and Japan after WW II, specifically to make the next generation of citizens capable of self-government. Russia is not there yet, let alone a century ago.
