I wish the truly bad people felt the same way random thoughts Send a noteboard - 05/03/2010 02:57:15 PM
for some reason some people are just broken and can't be allowed to go out and break more people. If you come out with a good way to fix them fine we can look at letting them loose but until then I think it is criminal to let men back into society who have already destroyed lives and who we know are likely to destroy more.

So are you volunteering to be the one the explain the importance of second chances to parents whoes dead 5 year old was just dug out of the local dump with obvious signs of sexual abuse? Would you be willing to explain your theories of how they are pretty sorry parents?

Theory and feel good politics are fine so long as it doesn't lead us to the idea that we can let the monsters back out on the streets after we catch them. There is a very small percentage of the population that is so screwed up that they are incapable of not committing those acts but people like you think it is the right thing to let them back out in the public to hurt more children. It isn’t about punishing them it is about keeping them away from children.

You may be uncomfortable with the idea that people can be locked away for ever but as the father of a beautiful 4 year old little girl I am uncomfortable with the idea that you would let someone we know is capable of hurting her for his sexual gratification back out the street and that he may show in our neighborhood. If my intolerance for second chances makes me a poor parent in your eyes then so be it. One of the things I struggle to teach my children is you don't always get second chances and life doesn't have a reset button.

Can you give the victims second chances not be raped and possibly murdered?
