I think this game is rigged. Social media has caused many people to hold extreme opinions and the media is playing to these bases.
I see Trump as a parallel to Netanyahu who faces weekly demonstrations by people who really hate him in a way that is disproportionate to any of the legal accusations against him. They even belittle the peace deals with UAE and the rest, as if peace with any Arab nation is not a major breakthrough. "Meh, we never had war with them in the first place."
Before covid my cousin's kid had a Bar Mitzva, and this punk 13 year old with John Lennon spectacles stands at the podium delivering a sermon claiming CORRUPTION is the worst vice in humanity. I mean WTF ? You're a stupid kid why are you talking about CORRUPTION. Sure, he probably has some form of social awkwardness like his father (AND mother), but still. WTF. And how can a kid think CORRUPTION is worse than violence. What's wrong with the bullies of this generation ?
But then my own father keeps calling Netanyahu a dictator for some reason, as if limping along for 3 election cycles has no baring on democracy. Sure, he has a psycho son and a crazy wife. I actually heard from a guy that knows a guy, that he manipulates his security to buy him food by not carrying a wallet and his wife screams if they ask for a refund... But that still is not enough to make him everyone's personal devil. We had PMs who led unpopular wars but were not hated so much, and they too were greedy SOBs.
My wife's family is the mirror image of mine. They can't have enough of the guy.
It's all Facebook. People segregate to their own political bubbles, the established media sees this and plays along, amplifying the message. And so on and so on like a positive feedback loop.
