The US has kicked Russia around for 30 years. The triumphalist imperial attitude the US government displayed since 1991 is what pushed Russia to where it is. Putin is a kleptocratic autocrat and there are plenty of things to criticize about modern Russia, but this sure as hell isn't one person's fault.
While there is some truth in everything you say, there are subjective interpretations as well. But yes, this invasion is his fault. The Russians don't want it. The Ukrainians don't want it. Only Putin seems to want it. It was his decision to invade a sovereign nation. Just as it was Stalin's and Hitler's decisions to invade Poland in 1939.
This part is ridiculous. Russian sounds as aggressive and harsh to outsiders. Just like German. Just like Ukrainian. There's a reason in the Star Trek world that the Klingons were the Soviets and the Klingon language sounded as harsh as it does. Joe tells me all the time that Russian is very harsh sounding and he likes/loves Russians/the Russian language and culture and history. But does Russian sound as beautiful as Italian or French? Definitely not.
The Ukrainian constitution protects the use of Russian though. But there is nothing wrong with making Ukrainian the only official language of the state and promoting it while ensuring Russian speakers are also protected. Ukrainian speakers make up 70% of the country.
There is no justification for invading here. None. Ukraine is not a threat to Russia. Ukraine was never going to be able to join NATO. Ukraine has a right to self-determination and a right to chart its own course in this world without Russian influence or interference. Do I think its leaders should be smart and ensure they respect the great powers of the EU and Russia? Of course. They are not a part of either and serve as a buffer. That's fine. When Putin seized Crimea he radicalized the Ukrainians. I see on Instagram that the Russian people are not pro this war. I know the Ukrainians are not for this war.
This war is a terrible tragedy.
