Re: Any "role" with a Night Kill would be incongruous Fanatic-Templar Send a noteboard - 08/01/2014 07:25:04 AM

View original postNon-Mafia Roles with Night Kills are Vigilantes and Serial Killers.

The stated goal of the Watch is to prevent Night Kills (though I concede it's possible Stephen had a secret victory condition you didn't know). Therefore, it is unlikely that Stephen would be both a member of the Watch and a vigilante.

You think you know how the Watch works better than me? The goal of the Watch is to prevent Night Kills, but it doesn't immediately lose if one occurs, otherwise we'd be out already. Eliminating a known scum would add one more failed Night to our tally, but that has to be measured against preventing that scum from committing Night Kills in perpetuity. Just because the option exists doesn't mean it's intended to be used. My StarCraft mafia game had actual suicide goons.

The point here is that you have no idea what you're talking about. You don't know what Stephen's role, alignments and objectives were, and you don't know what the vampires are up to. And yet there's one thing you've been certain of since Day 1, and that's that the vampires need to die. You've just been trying to throw up arguments to get to that end as they come along.

View original postSo, since Stephen likely didn't get his Night Kill from being a Serial Killer or a vigilante, all that's left is being part of some kind of group that has reason and ability to Night Kill people. And this still fits in with your restrictions- Stephen's Night Kill doesn't have to be a faction ability, it could just as easily be intrinsic to his specific character.

For example- and I'm not suggesting this- A cult faction that was two people. The faction ability is to infect someone. One person has a night kill. The other person has a roleblock.

I used a very similar setup in my Comic Book Mafia- the scum could carry out their Night Kill, but each scum had their own power they could use instead.

Again, your argument is built around the admittance that the vampires cannot be a normal scum faction. They could be some unorthodox scum faction, but by very virtue of being unorthodox, they are also unlikely. I am still of the opinion that a regular scum faction exists, and would rather focus on that than of some entirely hypothetical vampiric scum faction whose methods, motives and organisation you can only guess at.

Because in the end, you cannot pin any crime on the vampires thus far, but we do know that there has been a Night Kill. I would be far more interested in figuring out the guilty party behind that, rather than going on ghost hunts.

View original postAs to why I'm focused on this, I'm niggling away at threads. Despite the large number of posts and Days we've gone through, we really have very little information. You know what gets us information? Blood. One lynch would tell us more than anything we've gone through in the last two days.

See, now this I can believe. I don't remember everyone you've tried to get lynched this game but it does include Yunalesca, ranagrande and Taiga at least, and it is conform to you previously established mode of operation. And I'm not one to oppose lynching someone for information, generally speaking. So I'm whole-heartedly with you on the concept.

Problem is, I'm fairly certain that killing Yunalesca would be detrimental to the town. Think about it.

Why was Stephen Night Killed when he was obviously about to get modkilled?

He was unprotected - inactives get no defensive RPS, and no sane doc or other defensive role was going to waste their Night and morale protecting a dead man - and I had already revealed that he was a vampire. I very much suspect that Stephen was Night Killed because someone wanted to actively kill him. The Watch's faction morale is influenced by players dying during the Night. Likewise, I very much suspect that whoever killed Stephen did so because Stephen's death would give them bonus morale. And I think the same thing would happen if we were to lynch Yunalesca.

View original postI think it's actually more suspicious that you are so adamantly defending Yuna. For all intents and purposes, this is basically Day One, or maybe Day Two. We have ONE dead body! On Day One, the smallest thing out of place will get you lynched. And, no offense to Yuna, but she hasn't even posted anything this Day.

Yeah, her inactivity is bothersome, though unfortunately not uncharacteristic of Yuna. Normally I'd be fine with lynching her for it, but in this game I see evidence for a vampire-hating scum faction, and I really don't want to help them achieve their goals.

Incidentally, I say "vampire-hating scum faction" because that's as far as the evidence go, but I surmise that this could just be because vampires are a subset of 'foreigners' and we're dealing with the Hippo league here.

View original postI have a laundry list of reasons to lynch Yuna. Your defense amounts to, "But what if she's NOT evil?"
