See...that's where I'm different. Jeordam Send a noteboard - 08/01/2010 03:33:30 PM
And ultimately, I'm not interested in watching an updated version of Ferngully.

It's really just Ferngully with amazing, 3-D landscapes and telepathically controlled animals. If you do go see it, only do so if you can see it in 3-D (IMAX, especially) The plot's mediocre, but Cameron's the first director I've seen who can make a 3-D movie, instead of a 3-D movie. If that makes sense.

I get what you're saying. I may eventually see it, but I'm unsure if I really want to put the effort of seeing it at an IMAX. The nearest one to me is either up in Orange County or down in Balboa park in San Diego. I'm not in the mood to drive to either place to see a movie that I'm *meh* about to begin with.

I rolled my eyes a bit at the rest of your post, although I'm glad to see your "uncomfortable feelings" don't stop you from watching good shows. As for the Dixie Chicks, like or dislike their music. Who cares what they say in public?

See...that's where I'm different. I don't seperate the artist's viewpoints or speaches from their work. The two are linked, because their viewpoints are reflected within their work. And by buying their work, I'm indirectly supporting their viewpoints. Its one thing for them to be silent about it (or at least not so loud), but quite another for them to be saying it from the <insert media point of contact here>.

Their work has to be *very* good for me to overcome it. Example....Tom Cruise. Ever since he went crazy Scientologist on us (besides just being quiet Scientologist), I find watching his movies very difficult. It doesn't make them bad by any measure of the word, but all I see is the crazy guy jumping up and down on a couch. Another example would be Tim Robbins...and his crazy liberal ideas. Normally, I couldn't stand him or his work, the exception is Shawshank Redemption. Why? Because that movie is good enough to overcome his crazy lib ideas.

My only interest in celebrities are how their work entertains me- anything outside of it is as irrelevant to me as are the political views of the McDonald's cashier who hands me my burger.

And if you drove up to the McDonald's, and the girl started spouting at you about her thoughts on animal rights or Scientology or gay marriage? How would you feel then? That maybe its just not worth the effort to even listen to her rants about whatever...because after all, there are good burgers & fries in other places.
