animals fight for food, territory and mates. Bacteria fight for nutritive resources. Plants fight root and leaf for sunlight and soil. Heck, if you decide to call a virus a living thing, it fights for reproductive dominance in a cell.

The concept of "mine and yours" is entirely natural and to foist otherwise upon humanity would entail going against some of the most basic instincts we have.

If you can name a single living entity which does not compete for any resources, I'll give you a medal.
