I was wondering how BS in the wotverse would read. Now I know. Not like the BS of Mistborn or Elantris but not RJ either. Since I was hoping that he wouldn't try to mimic RJ this is a plus, but for me, his style will take some getting used to. Some things surprised me, Rand knew of Ituralde's successes on the Almoth Plain, so much of what one 'goodie' does is completely unknown to all but "a small circle of friends'. The introduction of a maybe mystery (if it's not explained in the prologue) is, I think, a big Sanderson wink to RJ. Didn't expect that kind of humor. I found Rand's comment about Egwene surprising. This is the man who a few weeks (days? timeline is not clear) earlier sent Merise and Narisima to the SAS saying that they could bond Ashaman. It seems disconnected that he would now believe that Egwene would now try to capture and gentle him. Especially the "another notch to her belt" bit. What other 'notches' does he think she has? I do have to remember that Rand is crazy, and crazy people do and say illogical things. It is also readily apparent that he has shut himself down emotionally to the point of true psychosis, I have the feeling that Rand will be a very scary person to be around.

I think Lews Therin's comments to Rand were the most hugely significant part of the chapter.
