But Amys is assumed to be very close to Moiraine in strength.

So Amys + Melaine should be more than twice as strong as Melaine, but less than twice as strong as Amys.

So probably about 75% stronger than Amys.

Which, if Amys is slightly weaker than Moiraine, probably means Egwene is about 66% stronger than Moiraine, or thereabouts.

Diffuclt to say precisely, but I think it is fair to say that Egwene is not quite twice Moiraine's strength, but not far short of it.

Assuming this is right, we're at a situation were where have to say that because Egwene is 66% stronger than Amys, Amys has a difficulty holding Egwene's shield. Right?

But, in aCoS, we have a case of two Black sisters who're barely half as strong as Nynaeve (remember, Ispan and Falion are weaker than Liandrin, who herself is considerably weaker than Amys/Moiraine); meaning Nynaeve is more than a 100% as strong as those tow combined; holding a shield on her, and she is unable to break it without help from the Kin.

The situations are similar. In both cases, the stronger woman did not hold the power when she was shielded. But post that, Egwene nearly broke her shield, but Nynaeve was powerless? Doesn't add up.


Linked circles are more effective than individual channelers. As an example, look at the Cleansing. So the fact that Rand breaks a linked shield, is even more impressive, and strengthens the case that he is MUCH stronger than the Aes Sedai holding him, and than Egwene and Elayne when he shields them, for that matter.
