Well the point of the original poster NaClH2O Send a noteboard - 10/09/2009 02:05:05 AM
Technically, the narrator isn't omniscient in each individual scene - while throughout the book, we can see into everyone's thoughts, each scene is written in third-person limited. I see why you'd have a problem with the writing, though and I agree that it'd be a case of bad writing, but only in the sense that it confuses the reader. I can't believe that this wouldn't be from Rand's POV; I can't imagine any competent writer would use that kind of commentary unless it's specifically in the style of the novel to do so, and BS is definitely more competent than that.

Unfortunately that was the original point. Basically scalius is trying to say that the sword is Turak's ... ok, it fits a lot of the criteria, but why the "And not, oddly, from Lews Therin’s memories—but Rand’s own." There is no way LTT would recognise Turak's sword. Scalius's point was that maybe the "oddly" was from the narrator. ie. the narrator himself thought it odd, not Rand. Therefor NOT from Rand's POV but the narrator's. That's what I'm objecting to.
