Now that the Prologue and chapter 1 are out, I decided to give my own impressions of chapter1.
First it really is TG and we realise again how far down the Pattern is going. The DO's touch is there and is really spoiling the land. Even if Rand is now optimistic and enlighted from his Epiphany, the land will die soon if Rand doesn't go soon to SG to fight the DO.
The hopelesness and despair from Blunt is strong, and we really see how the normal people are slowly realising that its the end of days.
When we finaly see Rand coming down from Dragonmount, we see the change in him. I for one really enjoyed this change and was not disapinted in RJ/BS's portrayal of it. It was to be expected that Rand would reunite with the land and that he was special. Unless he becomes that super Jesus-like savior that only preaches and all, I'll be satisfied with the new Rand. He's always been my favorite in the series and I love where he's going.
What will be the thing he has to tell Egweene. Most likely it will that he will now be fighting his war, the fight against the DO, and he will leave her and Logain? (after they discuss the Black Ajah/Taim/Black Tower issue)in charge of the light's Battle ressources. From now on, Rand fights on another level.
All in all, I really enjoyed the chapter and I can't wait for the book.
