Valda was the Lord Captain Commander of the Children! That is to say, he was the law, exactly the opposite of a "renegade."
And to claim that a paramilitary gang answerable to no-one outside its own hierarchy does not rape and pillage beggars belief.
This is not remotely evidence of anything beyond your own prejudices and assumptions (based on your EXTENSIVE experience, I am sure, of paramilitary organizations
As for murder, we know that the Children, at the very least, assassinate Aes Sedai when they can.
They are at war with the Aes Sedai. There is no other way to kill channelers, who hold too many other advantages. They hold mass executions of Darkfriends, such as the one demonstrated to Morgase,
Those were Darkfriends! What were they supposed to do with them?! Are you HONESTLY criticizing them for executing real, known Darkfriends?and even if being a Darkfriend by itself removes people from the protection of law we know that their standards for being a Darkfriend are none too high.
Prove that. You have only the PoV Trap complaints of characters prejudiced against the Children, when in fact, they are NEVER seen to do this in the books. They stir up mobs and hold people they dislike for torture, which is doubtless followed by execution.
Doubtless by whom? Show me one example in the entire series that is aberrant from the rest of the world! We see that in Cairhien, even nobles can be arraigned and tried for treason simply on the word of one of their peers! How much of a trial did Colavaere get, beyond a couple of people saying "She did bad stuff, I promise, cross my heart"? Andor, long held as the standard of commoner's rights and rule by law, brands non-violent criminals on purely circumstantial evidence, and hangs them after a third strike, and requires no more evidence of being a Darkfriend than the word of a noblewoman. Compare that to their treatment of Perrin, who assaulted and murdered soldiers on no provocation. He himself hangs men on less offense and less proof in later books, but the Children arrest him and take him in for a trial, when even under the Geneva Conventions, they would have been justified in slitting his throat on the spot. If the Tower didn't eat, would you starve yourself to death too?
And when the HELL have I EVER suggested the Tower is a model of any sort of behavior to follow? This is an ANTI-White Tower post, in case you have forgotten! The Americans won the Cold War for a reason, Cannoli.
Given the sheer ignorance and lack of comprehension about a very limited book series you display here, I cannot even begin to speculate what warped perspective on history inspires this non sequitur.
